Why I am choosing Vine Maple as my first blog’s subject is because it is easily to be found all around the UWB campus, and It brings you the color of Fall which I can fully feel it everyday when step in the campus.

Vine Maple is the common Name of this tree, and it scientific name is Acer Circinatum. It is a small deciduous tree, and it can grow up 10 to 15 feets height, and spreads to 20 feets widths. The leaves of the Vine Maple is green in Spring and Summer, and when the time is close to Fall, all the leaves will turn to brown and red. It looking wonderful, and it is actually a famous landscape.
Have you ever seen the autumn red and orange-red leaves of the vines shining on the road?

I remember that when I first come to the US, I live in an apartment that is just opposite to my College which is Edmonds Community College(EDCC). There are lots of trees surround the apartment. It was Fall quarter when I first got in to the EDCC. I would say that I am a maple fan since I was a child. I saw the falling of the red maple leaves through the TV and I found it was very impressive. From that time, I hope I can visit Canada and see the real thing happens in front of me. So one day, when I woke up in the morning, and looking out of the window. I saw the picture of my earliest memories. All the tree that surround the apartment are actually Vine Maple. Start from that time, I love to spend time on watching the leaves falling of the Maple beside the window. What I found interesting is the seed of the Vine Maple grows with wings, and they started to spin like a spinning top when they are falling with the leaves. It looks very satisfied, and now I learn it from the class that the wings are actually helping the seeds to spread more far. Vine Maple is not difficult to grow, It likes moist well-drained soil with a 5.5 to 7.5 pH range, and it is adapted to many soil types. It also just require really low water. I think the only problem is you really need spaces to plant it.
